The marijuana supply in Gilmer County took a hit last Friday, June 16, when detectives from the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department and agents from the Zell Miller Mountain Parkway Drug Task Force arrested two people and confiscated approximately 17 marijuana plants at a residence on Boardtown Road.
According to Det. Lane Bennett with the sheriff’s department criminal investigation division, James Ryan Haley, 19, and Sarah Haley, 18, were arrested after law enforcement officials, acting on a tip, converged on a residence on Boardtown Road shortly before noon on Friday and discovered marijuana plants growing at the residence. An additional quantity of marijuana was found inside the residence as was other drug paraphernalia.
The marijuana has a street value of $19,000.
Both Haleys have been charged with manufacturing marijuana.
