Agents nab meth, trafficker
Special to the Times-Courier Zell Miller Mountain Parkway Drug Task Force seized 1/2 pound of methamphetamine last Wednesday, May 30. Agents received information that methamphetamine was traveling from Atlanta to Ellijay. Agents organized a surveillance with the help of detectives from Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department and agents from the GBI Regional Drug Office in Canton. During the surveillance the vehicle in question was spotted traveling north on Highway 515. The vehicle was followed into the Wal-Mart parking lot. Agents moved in to investigate and located the methamphetamine in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Two Hispanic females were arrested and taken to the Gilmer County Detention Center. Romana Renteria-Salgado of Atlanta was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine. Teodora Pineda-Salgada of Lawrenceville was also arrested for trafficking methamphetamine. The investigation is still ongoing. Agents are trying to determine if this was a one time delivery, and what individuals would have received any portion of the product. More arrests are possible in this case. The Drug Task Force agents and officers of the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office are dedicated to a drug-free Gilmer County.
