A dispute over the shooting of a dog led to two cases of aggravated assault and sent one person to Erlanger Medical Center for treatment for a gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon, June 8.
According to Gilmer County Chief Detective Capt. Stacy Nicholson, Gilmer County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to the Rogers Creek development to find Billy Griffin, 31, suffering from a gunshot wound and John Albert Hanson, 67, suffering from a broken wrist.
Hanson had allegedly shot Griffin’s dog earlier in the day, and Griffin went to Hanson’s house and hit him in the wrist with a baseball bat, breaking the wrist.
Hanson then shot Griffin as he was leaving.
Both were taken to North Georgia Medical Center, and Griffin was sent on to Chattanooga for surgery.
Nicholson said both would be arrested pending their releases from the hospital.
