Jessie Dill

An armed robber returned to the scene of one of his earlier crimes last Thursday, July 22, only to escape with a small amount of money. He now sits in the Gilmer County Detention Center, having confessed to the crime.
Jesse Dill, 25, of Ellijay, was arrested Monday night, July 26, and was charged with two counts of armed robbery, three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of theft by taking, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and three counts of pointing a firearm at another. Dill has confessed to robbing Boring’s Store on July 22 and last month on June 23.
Deputies and detectives were called to Boring’s Store on Old Hwy. 5 South, shortly after noon last Thursday where they were told two store employees had been robbed at gunpoint and the robber had escaped with a small amount of cash.
The description of the robber matched that of a man who had robbed the store back in June.
A witness observed a small, black car in the area. This matched up to information gathered after the June robbery.
Shortly after the robbery, East Ellijay Police officer Perry Branyon stopped a car fitting the description of the vehicle, and held the driver until Gilmer County detectives arrived. Articles of clothing matching the description of the attire worn by the robber were recovered. A gun was also discovered.
Gilmer County Chief Detective Stacy Nicholson praised the efforts of Branyon, Gilmer County deputies Shane Bowman and Mark Henderson, and Gilmer County detectives Mike Mabry and Chris Goulart. “These officers are to be commended for their attention to detail and their persistence. Their untiring efforts are what led to the break we needed in bringing this fugitive to justice,” said Nicholson.
