ABOUT The Gilmer County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Division is headed by Lt. Hamby. Animal Control Officers are dispatched to answer calls pertaining to domestic animals: Animal bites Stray animals Violations of county animal ordinances In case of an emergency (i.e. dog bite or attack), after duty hours, an Animal Control Officer and Deputy may be dispatched by calling 911. For cases involving wildlife contact the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 706.635.5060 or 1.800.241.4113. For cases involving livestock contact the Department of Agriculture, 1.800.473.0119 or 404.656.3713.
