Man Killed By Falling Treeby Al SummersNews Editor • alsummers@timescourier.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Gilmer County man was killed last Wednesday afternoon, June 6, when a tree that he had cut dislodged from another tree and hit him in the head. According to information supplied by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department, Facundo DeLaCruz Landaverde, 45, died at a location approximately three miles out Old Burnt Mountain Road off Hwy. 52 East in the late afternoon. Landeverde had been cutting trees when one became lodged in the limbs of a dead tree. The dead tree limbs snapped and Landeverde was killed as he attempted to run away from the falling tree. No charges have been filed in connection with the accident, which was investigated by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Gilmer County Coroner’s Office. |
