The daughter of a Gilmer County woman has been arrested and charged with the woman’s Dec. 23 death.
Courtney Alexandria Boring, 15, of Ellijay, was arrested by an agent from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and a detective from the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Monday, March 6, and charged with the murder of her mother, Debra Boring, 44.
She was transported to the Gilmer County Detention Center for booking into jail before being transported to Whitfield County.
Courtney Boring appeared before Appalachian Judicial Circuit Senior Judge Brenda Weaver Tuesday morning, March 7, to hear the charge against her.
She was denied bond and is being held in the youth detention center (YDC) in Dalton. Boring was represented at the hearing by Clint Hooker of the public defender’s office.
Appalachian Judicial Circuit District Attorney Joe Hendricks said Boring will be tried as an adult. He said he anticipated the evidence would be presented to the Gilmer County Grand Jury whose members will convene in April.
Gilmer County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson told the Times-Courier, “This is a sad event. However, I would like to compliment the detectives at CID and thank the agents from the GBI for their assistance.”
