Gilmer County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson has told the Times-Courier an arrest is “imminent” in the death of Debra Boring in late December of last year.

Boring, 44, was shot at her home on Talona Road, in the early evening hours of Friday, Dec. 23. Initially, investigators thought the death might possibly have been a suicide, but evidence at the scene quickly changed their minds.

Nicholson said, “We believe that Mrs. Boring was murdered and this case is a murder case. We also believe that she was murdered by someone close to her.”

The sheriff refused any further comment.

Appalachian Judicial Circuit District Attorney Joe Hendricks confirmed that an arrest was expected in the next few days and charge of murder was expected to be filed.
