Deputies from the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at a Gilmer County residence, and once they arrived, they uncovered a methamphetamine trafficking operation.

According to a statement released by Gilmer County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson, Deputies Mark Henderson and Leon Davenport answered a call at the residence of Harold Daves. While investigating, the deputies discovered drugs and agents from the Zell Miller Mountain Parkway Drug Task Force (DTF) were called. The deputies secured the residence while DTF agents secured the proper search warrants.

During the execution of the search warrants, approximately 30 grams of suspected “ice” (refined methamphetamine) were discovered along with prescription narcotics.

Arrested were Harold Mitchell Daves, 45, of Ellijay, and Vicki Lee Maddox, 44. Daves was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and Maddox was charged with possession of dangerous drugs.

The estimated value of the illegal narcotics seized is $1,300.

Nicholson said, “Deputies Henderson and Davenport exhibited excellent police work in recognizing the illegal narcotics at the residence. I appreciate the assistance of the DTF in handling this case. This is a significant amount of drugs that has been removed from the street and away from our children.”
