Gilmer County law enforcement officers are investigating a string of vandalism occurrences that has taken place over the past couple of weeks. Chief Det. Stacy Nicholson said the vandalism took place April 3-4 and April 6-7 in the Hwy. 52 East (Chatsworth Hwy.)/Roberts Ridge Road area and the Craigtown Road/Dalrymple Circle area. Over 40 mailboxes have been damaged.
Nicholson also said some equipment had been damaged and detectives had determined the two crimes were related.
A $100 reward is being offered in the case, and anyone with information should call the criminal investigation division at (706) 635-4646, or the crime tip line at (706) 635-TIPS (8477).
In other law enforcement activity, Nicholson told the Times-Courier that Johnny Couch, 41, of a Round Top Road address, was arrested and charged with the manufacture of marijuana. A total of 24 marijuana plants, with a street value of $28,800, was confiscated.
