Gilmer County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kenny Wiggins just felt like there was something not right about a man pumping fuel at the Mountain View Corner convenience store and wearing a heavy coat and hood when everybody else was wearing short sleeves Monday, New Year’s Day.

Wiggins also knew the car was similar to one that had been described in a BOLO (be on the lookout) last week with regards to a murder suspect from Gwinnett County.

Mark Livingston Noble, 33, of Norcross, was arrested without incident Monday afternoon and charged with driving with a suspended license. It was later confirmed that Noble was wanted in the connection of the Christmas Eve murder of Rupert Noble in Norcross.

Acting on his hunch, the officer checked the tag number of the car, and initial information stated that the car was possibly stolen and Wiggins followed in pursuit. Noble’s Honda Accord was eventually stopped, and Wiggins was assisted by Dep. Shane Bowman in taking the suspect into custody.

Noble spent the night in the Gilmer County Detention Center before being taken into custody by Gwinnett County officers Tuesday morning.

Gilmer County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson told the Times-Courier, “Sgt. Wiggins is to be commended on a fine piece of law enforcement work. His alertness and attention to detail led to the capture of a person wanted in connection with a murder in a nearby county. Both he and Dep. Bowman accomplished arresting the suspect without incident and I, along with the officers of the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department, salute them.”
